1/29/2026 Update
While the weekend is looking to be frigid again, temps got just above freezing today and things are starting to thaw out! Falling ice and shifting tree limbs can be a dangerous hazard as things melt. Please be careful and watch overhead.
POWER RESTORATION: NES and CEMC continue to work to restore power to Hendersonville Residents. As of this afternoon there are currently about 1,600 homes without power in Hendersonville. In several situations, power restoration crews are waiting on NES affiliated tree companies to help remove trees/limbs tangled inside live wires.
If you have damage to the electrical line supplying your house, you may need to contact an electrician to have necessary repairs completed before power can be restored.
TRASH COLLECTION: As of this afternoon, all Wednesday and Thursday trash routes have been collected. Tomorrow WastePro will run the regular Friday route. Please ensure cans are out by 6:00 am. Monday and Tuesday routes will resume next week. Collection crews will be expecting extra volume due to the missed day.

Thank goodness for a little more sunshine today!! We know so many residents are still without power. We encourage everyone to check on their neighbors and help where they can.
POWER RESTORATION: NES continues to work on restoring power to the remainder of Hendersonville. Numbers are looking better every day. Please see the earlier post today with information specific to restoring power.
WARMING SHELTER INFORMATION: Hendersonville Church of God (724 E. Main St) The Red Cross also has a Sumner County shelter open at Gallatin Methodist Church (568 N. Water Ave, Gallatin) and Northfield Church (2100 Nashville Pike, Gallatin)
ROADS: Roads look a little better every day, but we do still have icy patches on side roads. The refreeze each night adds potential for black ice so please be careful going out in the mornings. Public Works crews continue to salt and plow roads and are working to help clear side roads, particularly along the trash routes to help facilitate collection.
TRASH COLLECTION: WastePro worked the regular Wednesday trash route today. They will be collecting the Thursday route tomorrow. Unfortunately, some roads were still a little too icy at time of collection today and had to be skipped. Those areas will be addressed tomorrow as roadways permit. Houses with back door collection that had long icy driveways were also skipped for the safety of collection staff. Next week, Monday & Tuesday routes will have volume limit exceptions due to missed collection this week.
We appreciate your patience as WastePro works to get everyone collected as quickly as possible while also keeping their employees safe. We will continue to provide updates here and online at https://www.hvilletn.org/450/Daily-Trash-Collection-Update. ;
LIMB COLLECTION: The City has hired a contractor to help clean up tree limbs. They will also be helping to trim hanging limbs along the roadway. See all updates on that process for residents online here: https://www.hvilletn.org/m/newsflash/home/detail/79
PARKS: All parks remain closed the remainder of the week.
WATER LEAK INFORMATION FROM HUD: As winter weather brings subfreezing temperatures to our area, the risk of frozen or burst water pipes increases. Pipes can freeze without warning, and breaks may not become visible until temperatures rise and the thawing process begins. These issues can occur on private property lines or on utility maintained lines.
Be Alert for Signs of a Leak
You may be experiencing a water line issue if you notice:
- Unexplained running water outdoors
- Low or fluctuating water pressure
- Unusual pooling or flowing water on your property or nearby
If you observe any of these conditions, it is important to report them immediately. Early notification helps prevent water loss, property damage, and service disruptions.
Who to Contact: Please report possible leaks or concerns to your local utility provider:
- Hendersonville Utility District: Phone: (615) 824 3717
- White House Utility District: Phone: (615) 672-4110
Your utility team will assess the situation promptly and take all necessary steps to protect public infrastructure and ensure reliable service.
Tuesday, 1/27/2026 3:30 pm update:
The sun didn’t want to help as much today, but things did thaw some. We are hearing reports of more limbs and lines down as things shift with the thawing and refreezing. Please use caution and stay away from tree lines, low hanging trees and downed lines.
ROADS: Public Works has continued to salt, plow and remove trees to clear roads. They are looking much better, but there are still a lot of slick spots on side roads. We anticipate more of those in the morning as temperatures drop overnight. Please use caution and drive slowly if you are getting out.
TRASH COLLECTION: Trash collection will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28 with the normal Wednesday route. Monday & Tuesday collection routes will be caught up on their normal collection days next week.
ELECTRICITY: NES and CEMC continue to work around the clock to get residents back up and running. There are still more than 1,000 homes in Hendersonville without power. If your power line was damaged, there may be things you need to do before the power company will reconnect the line. If weatherheads, power masts, or meter bases are damaged, lineworkers cannot safely reconnect power. NES and CEMC have been sharing updates and tips for homeowners several times a day on their social media pages.
CODES INSPECTIONS: Our Building and Codes department is making permits and inspections related to storm damage a top priority. If your home or business is within city limits and sustained damage due to the ice storm, please reach out to our Codes Department via email, codes@hvilletn.org or phone (615) 822-3802. City Hall will reopen tomorrow (Wednesday) for in-person visits at 101 Maple Dr. North.

CITY HALL: City Hall will re-open tomorrow morning, Wednesday January 27, 2026 for normal hours.
LIMB COLLECTION: There is wide-spread limb and tree damage across the city. We know this will take residents quite some time to get cleaned up. We have hired a contract limb crew to help with clean-up starting tomorrow.
BOMA MEETINGS: The regularly scheduled BOMA and committee meetings planned for tonight will not be held due to inclement weather. Visit the city website calendar for updates on the next meeting dates. https://www.hvilletn.org/calendar

Monday, 1/26/26 4:45 pm update
ROADS: The sun was our friend today and road conditions are looking better, particularly the main roads. Side roads are still very slick. Public Works has spread about 150 tons of salt over the last couple days. They will continue working on the side roads and hope to see more improvement tomorrow. Please use caution if you have to get out.
POWER: NES and CEMC have been working all day to restore power. However, there are still large areas with outages. Tree and line damage is significant. We remind residents to contact their providers directly to report outages and downed lines.
TRASH: Due to the icy conditions and the transfer station closure, trash collection is suspended for Tuesday.
SHELTER: The Sumner County Emergency Shelter is now located at Gallatin Methodist Church (568 N. Water).
PARKS: All parks facilities remain closed. Help us protect our fields by not riding UTVs and bikes on the them.

1/25/26 6:30 pm update:
Temps are dropping very low overnight. Take proper precautions. Please stay off the roads if you can. Roads are slick and we expect them to freeze more overnight. Wind could continue to bring down lines and trees. Stay away from downed lines and always assume they are live wires.
POWER UPDATES: Many Hendersonville residents are still without power. NES and CEMC have been making assessments and repairs all day. Tree damage is significant and it is possible some of these outages will last several days. We encourage you to report outages and check in with your specific power company for updates.
TRASH UPDATE: Trash service is suspended. We will provide updates as Waste Pro is able to resume collection.
SHELTER UPDATE: The Red Cross is setting up a Sumner County Emergency Shelter at Gallatin City Hall. It will open at 7pm.
PARKS: All park facilities remain closed. This includes athletic facilities, restrooms, greenways and parking lots. Staff will be making assessments tomorrow and will provide updates on the Hendersonville Parks and Recreation page.
1/25/2016 8:30 am Update:
Overnight icing has created downed trees and power outages across the city. As temps drop again in the next couple hours, we anticipate more downed trees and worsening road conditions. We encourage everyone to stay off the roads. Roads are slick and downed trees and powerlines make the roads even more hazardous.
How you can help!
- Report power outages to directly NES and CEMC.
https://cemc.org/outagemap/
https://www.nespower.com/outages/ - Report any downed trees by calling the non-emergency line. 615-822-1111. Public works, HFD and HPD are working to clear downed trees in roadways.
- Call 911 only in emergencies.
- Please stay home and off the roads.
- Keep your family safe by ensuring generators are kept outside and away from doors and windows.
- Stay away from iced trees and limbs
We will continue to provide updates here, on the website and via text message.
City of Hendersonville Winter Storm Readiness Alert - 1/22/2025 4:30 pm
The City of Hendersonville now has five (5) plow trucks with spreaders for road salt. Roads are prioritized based on traffic volume and navigation difficulty (steep grades, bridges, hospital, police & fire access)
We have over 200 tons of salt and plan to start spreading on the priority roads just prior to the snow’s arrival. Crews are on call and watching the forecast. The priority plowing map is below. Please note TDOT plows the state roads such as Main St, New Shackle Island and SR-386.

While we are hopeful this is a snow only event, the forecast currently says some ice is possible in our area. Ice accumulation can lead to power outages, downed trees and added difficultly clearing roads. Plan ahead and take precautions in case this becomes an issue.
Once the primary roads have been plowed/salted, crews will move on to cover secondary roads in each trash route to help facilitate reliable trash collection. Depending on the overall condition of the roadways into the city, the trash vendor, in coordination with the City, may still determine the roadway conditions are unsafe for trash collection vehicles. Please check social media and the city website for the latest updates for trash service during inclement weather. https://www.hvilletn.org/450/Daily-Trash-Collection-Update We will try to post any delays in service the evening before collection.

How residents can help:
1) Please stay off the roads if you can. Give crews time to clear roads as they are able. Staying home helps first responders and road crews stay safe and allows them to focus on the most immediate needs.
2) Do not park cars along the street. This prevents plows from properly clearing roads
3) Stay warm and enjoy the snow! - Remember no sledding at Country Hills Golf Course. (Too much damage in previous years)
Important things to note:
1) Salt is not effective once temps drop below 19 degrees.
2) Plows do not work on Ice
3) In the event the power goes out, contact your electric service provider (NES or CEMC) directly to report outages or ask service-related questions.
