FEBRUARY 12, 2025 UPDATE
During the 2/11 BOMA meeting, the board voted unanimously to approve the resolutions for interlocal mutual aid agreements. The agreement with Number One Volunteer Department was up for renewal so it was included at the same time as SIVFD.
We are pleased to share that the Shackle Island Volunteer Fire Department Board and Mayor Jamie Clary signed the agreement this morning at City Hall.
Mayor Clary shared the following statement:
“These agreements allow the city fire department to continue focusing on the families who live inside the city limits. And it details how we will help people living just outside our borders. In exchange, these agreements bring the resources of two volunteer fire departments to help our residents.
“I appreciate Chris Edgerton, with the Number One Volunteer Fire Department, and Steve Frost, who approached our staff about an agreement for Shackle Island. I appreciate the rest of the volunteer boards and their firefighters. And I look forward to working with them."

Mayor Jamie Clary will be asking the Public Safety Committee and the Board of Mayor and Alderman to amend tonight's agendas to include the Mutual Aid Agreement with Shackle Island Volunteer Fire Department. Meeting times and agendas are posted online at the following link.
