Stormwater Construction

Construction Resources

Construction sites within the City of Hendersonville are required to adhere to the water quality and water quantity requirements laid out in the Stormwater Ordinance. The City requires that these construction site operators properly design, install and maintain stormwater pollution prevention measures throughout construction.

A new Tennessee Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Handbook was effective on January 9, 2026.  The new handbook and guidance materials can be found at EPSC Handbook.  Additional documents and guidance associated with the handbook are linked below:

Soil loss from pastureland averages 1.5 tons/acre-year, cropland cultivation can lose 20 tons/acre-year, whereas construction activities can result in 150 to 200 tons/acre-year in the stormwater runoff. Therefore, even a minor uncontrolled construction activity can cause major impairment in the receiving waters. Erosion prevention and sediment control BMPs are the key parameter for successful water quality protection (Source: TDEC E&S Control Handbook, 4th Edition).
