Residential Trash Information
Hendersonville Public Works manages the collection and disposal of municipal solid waste, residential yard waste, and bulk waste. Our mission is to offer Hendersonville's residents a reliable and efficient waste service that prioritizes customer service and economic responsibility.
Weekly Route Schedule
Click on the image below to search collection day for a specific address.
Collection is Monday through Friday. All residents MUST have their trash out for collection by 6:00 am on their service day. Failure to do so may result in a missed collection for the week.
When the following holidays land on a regular collection day (Monday - Friday), collection will be delayed one day for the holiday and remaining days of the week: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.
The City of Hendersonville contracts the services of Waste Pro for all city solid waste collection. The standard service is once a week, curbside collection.
The weekly curbside collection includes up to:
- 2 cans (up to 96-gallon size) - Learn more about volume limits and allowable items here
- 2 bags
- 2 bulk Items- Learn more about allowable bulk items
*Oversized/large boxes can count as a bulk item. Other boxes should be broken down and placed inside a bag or can.
Backdoor Service Options
We realize many residents will still want backdoor trash collection due to convenience or necessity. Options for backdoor collection are below. Residents who obtain backdoor collection either through medical waiver or upgraded service through Waste Pro will have the following guidelines:
- All trash must be in bags inside cans. No loose trash or bags will be collected (at backdoor or curb)
- 4 cans 65-gallon size or smaller
- 2 bulk items - must be placed at the curb
- All backdoor cans must be visible from the driveway side of the house. They cannot be placed under any carports, or behind fences, and gates. Please ensure vehicles are not blocking access as well.
Medical Waiver
Residents who require backdoor collection due to physical limitations will need to complete a medical exemption waiver. Once processed, these residents will receive backdoor service at no charge.
Forms should be completed by both the resident and physician. Once completed, forms can be dropped off at City Hall, emailed to Public Works or faxed to (615) 264-5327. We recommend confirming receipt with public works if you opt to email or fax the completed form.
Additional Services offered by Waste Pro
After gathering feedback from public meetings and surveys, we are requiring the Waste Pro to offer backdoor collection and second pick up day as add-on services. Residents will add these options directly through the provider at the link below.
