Stop 30/Drakes Creek Improvements

Drakes Creek draft 3D aerialThis project is designed to mitigate flooding and improve safety and traffic flow at the Stop 30 Rd and Drakes Creek Rd intersection. The project will:

  • Elevate the Bridge and Intersection
  • Add New Traffic Signalization with Dedicated Turn Pockets 
  • Widen the Roadway in the Project Area (see map below)

Current Project Status: Pre-construction

  • Utility Relocation has begun. (See notes about traffic impacts below)
  • Right of Way (ROW) Acquisition: Ongoing
  • Expected to go to bid: End of 2025 - Early 2026

Traffic Impacts - Updated October 27, 2025

Utility companies have begun the work to relocate utility lines in anticipation of the construction beginning in spring of 2026. This work will be completed from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm daily and will include intermittent lane closures as needed. Flag crews will be present to allow traffic through.  The impacts will be along the project area in the map above.  Residents should expect delays in this area and take alternate routes when possible. 

Special Hours for Thursday, October 30 and Saturday, November 1
Due to necessary utility work. there will be a single lane closure on Drakes Creek Rd in the project area on:

  • Thursday, October 30 from 8:30 am until dark
  • Friday, October 31 from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm 
  • Saturday, November 1 from 7:00 am until mid afternoon. 

Flag crews will be present to direct traffic. Plan alternate routes if possible.
